Sectors and organizations are increasingly being asked to create their own data ethics standards, practices, and procedures. Organizations require the skills to gain meaningful insights from data in order to unleash the strength of data. Measuring service delivery outcomes in a hybrid service model practice requires a different lens than simply the quantitative one.

The Future Skills Centre has funded 64 innovation projects which explore ways evolving or emerging sectors and technologies can support workers displaced from socio-economic shocks as well as strengthening the economy of tomorrow. Among those projects are a number that focus on immigrant and refugee-serving organizations, or newcomers.

At the recent Metropolis conference, I was invited by World Education Services (WES) to participate on a panel looking at knowledge mobilization and knowledge management in the immigrant and refugee-serving sector. This panel highlighted the value of knowledge management and mobilization for informed decision-making within the settlement sector. Panelists discussed ways to balance knowledge mobilization while mitigating information fatigue, particularly as the pandemic has led to increased digital communication.

This episode touches interesting themes: ELL service providers and volunteers support literacy learners, newcomers with multiple barriers, and learners with low digital literacy skills. Experts in working with volunteers explain key aspects of working effectively with the volunteers who are essential to success. The podcast touches on improvisations made to program delivery during the pandemic, and a future with blended learning in the context of the specialized needs of multi-barriered individuals.

If you're not familiar with Tech Impact, they're one of a number of fantastic non-profit tech resource organizations. They have a great Nonprofit Technology Learning Center and recently shared a number of great publications, recorded webinars, and free training courses from the past year.

The future of work is a huge topic. For the immigrant and refugee-serving sector, I thought it would be useful to pull together projects, reports, surveys, and sector-specific professional development opportunities.
