You might hear about sharing your organization's content using ‘Creative Commons licences’.

What are Creative Commons Licences and why are they important?

This July 2022 webinar will tell you just that. The recording is ideal for anyone who needs to know more about Creative Commons licences and how they work in practice including using Creative Commons licensed content in your own resources and applying Creative Commons licences to materials created or commissioned by your organization.

By watching this webinar recording, you will be able to:

  • Understand what Creative Commons Licences are and the meaning of the different licensing terms
  • Be able to select Creative Common Licences which are suitable for their needs
  • Identify content they can use which is available under a Creative Commons Licence
  • Recognise their copyright clearance responsibilities when using Creative Commons Licences in association with copyright works

UK Funders like the National Heritage Lottery Fund have a requirement that any funded materials are made freely available to the public under an open licence such as the CC BY 4.0 licence. How refreshing. Something Canadian funders, government and other, should absolutely adopt.
