These May 2024 AMSSA webinars AMSSA covered techniques for securing sensitive information, highlighting case studies of standard operational principles as well as the consequences of data breaches, and the legal framework of digital security in the settlement sector in B.C., as well as the legal responsibilities of organizations and individuals. While legal and regulatory frameworks are B.C.-focused there is also discussion of national legislation and there is much in these webinars on privacy and security principles, and best practices relevant for all Immigrant and Refugee-serving organizations.

This June 2024 HelpSeeker webinar introduces their ontology focused on bridging communication across funders, service providers, and stakeholders, ensuring data collected at the client-service interaction level is effectively aggregated to assess broader systems impacts.

This May 2024 Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Migration and Integration conference brought together an interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral group of researchers and leaders from Canadian and international civil society, business and government to reflect on the implications of the rapid development of advanced digital technologies (ADTs) for migrant integration in Canada and around the world.

This P2P 2023 conference workshop presented preliminary findings of a multi-year evaluation of Together Project’s Welcome Group Program to understand the role technology plays in refugee settlement and integration, by comparing the experiences of Welcome Group matches that interact primarily virtually with those that interact both in-person and remotely. The Welcome Group Program matches volunteers with refugee newcomer households to provide social support over a period of six months.

We don't talk a lot about the user experience in our sector. But we should. Especially as we know that Newcomers, like all of us, are looking for frictionless access to information and progress in their Settlement journey, and expect exceptional service from us all. And why wouldn't they? They, like all of us, experience frictionless digital and other service experiences elsewhere. They increasingly expect it from sector service providers. But what does it mean?
