The use of AI notetakers and AI scribes in the context of community, human, and health services has come up as an area of excitement and concern. Many people are starting to use them and there are concerns about privacy, control over meeting notes and artefacts. Many have been using them without having any policies in place. There is a desire to have some useful and practical guidelines and policies in place. In this article I'm providing some useful articles and sources that I have found to provide an overview of the issues that service providers should be aware of.

This research examined how racialized newcomers experience information and communication technologies (ICTs) during their settlement journey in Canada, focusing on digital equity and systemic racism. The study aimed to explore the intersection of systemic racism and digital inequity and to identify policies and practices that can support racialized newcomers more effectively.

Ensuring the long-term health and well-being of immigrants in Canada is vital for human rights, social justice, and the sustainability of Canada's health system and economy. This April 2024 IPAC event explored what affects immigrant health, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the issue. Panelists identified opportunities for collective action across sectors and geographies to enhance the long-term health outcomes of immigrants in Canada.

This is a recording of an in person session that I did recently at the Access Alliance Multicultural Community Health Centre's Immigrant Researchers Support Network event. I focus on Knowledge Mobilization and Community Based Research, providing my take on how important Knowledge Mobilization is in Community Based Research and how newcomer or refugee researchers which what this network is made up of, could contribute to this mission.

Someone wrote that no technology project team is complete without a social worker, because "Social work excels at understanding the entire system while also understanding the needs of the individual." In our sector, no technology project should be considered complete without front line workers and Newcomers present, for the same reason. We must centre staff and Newcomers in all technology-related planning and decision-making.

Settlement services are key to Canada's success in welcoming and integrating immigrants. Offered mainly in person prior to COVID-19 by non-governmental agencies reliant on and regulated by government funders, services were forced online and delivered by staff working remotely. The authors document this transition between September 2020 and September 2021 in Ontario, Canada and the conditions that influenced it.
