In this 2022 Pre-Arrival Virtual Conference follow-up I wanted to be a bit more practical. Still future focused, but perhaps more narrowly now. The practical future window I’m focused on today is about 2 years. From now until the next national Call for Proposals. Still looking at what our sector can aspire to. But more practical.

This October 2021 Migrant Worker Hub webinar on looked at how frontline workers and service provider organizations responded, were innovative and agile during the pandemic, providing both online and in person services to newcomer immigrants, migrants and refugees.

On November 30, 2021, Simon Kemp celebrated a decade of the Global Digital Reports series with a lighthearted #NerdStream. He shared some of the stats and trends that have stood out for him over the past 10 years, and answered questions about the numbers, as well as how they produce the reports.

At the recent P2P 2021 Conference, I was part of the panel "The COVID Cohort of Immigrants: Tackling Settlement and Employment Challenges." My focus was on discussing the impact of technology on both clients and service providers in the pandemic context.

This 2020 eSkills.ca interactive webinar series provided background information on the creation of learning modules focused on building English-language learners’ digital literacy. The eSkills team provided an overview of the process of planning, designing, and developing engaging online learning, outlining their digital literacy training project and resources.

In this All Tech is Human July 15, 2020 webinar, Mutale Nkonde (CEO of AI for the People and Standford Digital Society Lab fellow) and Charlton Mcllwain (author of Black Software: The Internet & Racial Justice, From the AfroNet to Black Lives Matter & Vice Provost for Faculty Engagement and Development at NYU) discussed the challenges and opportunities in implementing anti-racist technology.

I was honoured to be asked to participate in the recent MPI Europe conference Social Innovation for Refugee Inclusion (SI4RI): Sowing Innovation in the Cracks of Crisis.

In January 2021, Refugee 613 hosted the Digital Messaging Summit to share practical strategies and advice about managing digital messaging services by and for immigrants and refugees and build a network of people working in this area.
