Published on: September 19, 2024
Google's NotebookLM is a free AI-powered research assistant and note-taking tool. In some ways it's like other Generative AI tools. But the audio interview function is different. I tried it today with a report I'm very familiar with. It's pretty neat.

Published on: September 17, 2024
Last year I wrote a post You don't need to be an early AI adopter, but pay attention where I shared some reports and links, mainly focused on ethical and responsible use of AI. I wrote "Ignoring whether or not you care about being a frontrunner in AI adoption, I think a key point is that you don’t need to be. But you need to be paying attention. And maybe seeking out some early adopters to learn from and even partner with." It's still true.

In our sector, no technology project should be considered complete without front line workers and Newcomers present, for the same reason. IRCC's engagement with our sector and Newcomers requires transparency, trust, and tenacity
Published on: May 3, 2024
A year ago I was invited to an IRCC online focus group on "how to position Canada’s immigration system as a global leader in client service excellence." Something it is increasingly not. It was part of IRCC's consultations last year, one of their thematic consultations, and I was happy to attend and provide feedback, as well as listen and learn form other participants. The entire experience makes me think of what engagement and a real relationship of trust and mutual respect could look like in our sector.

I thought it would be interesting to reshare this 2018 reflection now to see where we're at. And not much has changed.
