As I look forward into 2024, I thought I'd look back. In 2023 I posted 146 articles, 28 publications, and 5 good ideas on this site. That's not enough publications and good ideas, given how much is out there, and how much folks in the sector want, need, and like to hear about interesting projects and insightful resources. My goal for 2024 would be to post more of those.

IRCC Consultation report leading up to the next National Call for Proposals

In February and March 2023 IRCC ran sector consultations "to outline and seek feedback on departmental priorities for CFP 2024, in addition to asking partners what’s currently working well in the settlement and resettlement sectors, as well as key opportunities for improving services for clients." Rapid Community Assessments with Refugee Newcomer Populations (webinar recording)

Hosted on July 27, 2023, this Switchboard training session on creating rapid community assessments (RCA) with refugees was delivered by Dr. Mary Bunn, PhD, LCSW; Ramsha Sohail, MPhil; and, Dr. Karin Wachter, PhD, MEd. RCAs help collect community insights and views on a certain issue and calculate the major needs of the target community. That means the approach is useful for technology, digital literacy, digital inclusion assessments as well.
