In this November 2023 INCLUDE+ workshop, Irene Mackintosh, part of the team of Mhor Collective, explored how digital inclusion work is at its most meaningful when it’s part of real holistic support.

In this January 2024 webinar, the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) brought their community together to host an AI and digital inclusion discussion. Topics included an overview of AI, generative AI, use cases for generative AI, risks and considerations, and resources to continue to educate yourself.

The Connecting Families Initiative (CFI) is a Government of Canada program that provides more affordable Internet services to eligible Canadians. Those eligible for Connecting Families will be contacted directly. However, a number of the participating Internet Service Providers also offer other targeted programs for low-income Canadians to access low cost internet and mobile services. How are technology and data are being used to enable innovative immigration systems? To ensure that Alberta continues to grow as an economic engine in Western Canada through COVID-19, the development of innovative immigration systems is critically important. This 2020 Civic Tech Calgary session provides an overview of Immigrant Services Calgary's new system for streamlining services for newcomers among multiple service providers in Alberta called Gateway Canada.

A lot of energy is being poured into diversity and inclusion efforts across the Canadian tech ecosystem. While this is commendable, newcomers generally still encounter barriers preventing them from integrating seamlessly into tech careers, startups and funding opportunities. What would it look like if we could build communities that not only welcome people from diverse backgrounds but also intentionally invite them?
